FREE PUP Fest Playwriting Workshop

Get The Help You Need Writing Your Play At The PUP Fest Playwriting Workshop!

If You...
-Are in grades 9-12
-Have an idea for a play kicking around in your head but can't get it on paper
-Have written a play and want some pointers from a professional
-Have ever been the least bit interested in writing a play
-Want to enter your play in the PUP Festival happening in June

Then our PUP Fest Playwrighting Workshop is the place for you! Taught by published playwright and screenwriter Vicki Cheatwood, this 1-day intensive workshop is designed to get you and your playwriting on track!

When: Saturday March 13, 2010
Where: Dallas Central Library 1515 Young Street Dallas, TX 75201
Location: In the studio space on the 3rd floor
Time: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Age Range: Students currently enrolled in 9th -12th grades.

PUP Fest Script Submissions Now Being Accepted Until April 1, 2010!
Kitchen Dog Theater & Junior Players announce the Playwrights Under Progress Festival (PUP Fest), a program for high school playwrights in association with KDT’s annual New Works Festival. We will be accepting original scripts until April 1st.
Three to five scripts will be selected for a festival of staged readings in June. Eligible playwrights MUST be available June 7—12 for rehearsals and performance.

SCRIPT GUIDELINES
-Scripts must be written by students currently in grades 9-12
-Scripts must be short(20 minutes max) -
-Longer scripts will NOT be accepted
-Scripts must be typed in 12pt Times New Roman or Courier Font.
-No hand-written scripts will be accepted.
-Scripts must have cover sheet with title, author’s name, address, contact phone number, name of school and current grade level
-The play must have between one and five actors
-Scripts are due no later than April 1, 2010

If you would like your script returned, please include a self addressed stamped envelope (with appropriate postage). One script per envelope please. Non-produced, non-returned scripts will be recycled. If you have questions, call Junior Players at 214-526-4076 or check the KDT website

Free Shakespeare & Stage Combat Workshop for High School Students!
Taught by Master JP Instructors Valarie Hauss-Smith & Kent Williams. This advanced workshop will be focused on Shakespearean text and basic stage combat techniques. The workshop will conclude with a culminating exhibition/performance. It’s a great opportunity for those wanting to audition for our summer Shakespeare production!

Details:
Age Range: 9th thru 12th Grades
Dates: Saturdays- February 6th thru March 6th
Location: Sammons Center for the Arts, 3630 Harry Hines Blvd. 75219
Time: 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Kurth Hall (4th floor)
